Built for Complex Geometry

5-axis machining is ideal for parts with sharp corners, deep cavities, compound angles, organic contours, and complex geometries. By reaching more of the part in a single setup, 5-axis produces sophisticated components in fewer steps and with greater accuracy than repositioning a part across multiple operations ever could.

Efficient by Design

Fewer setups mean fewer opportunities for error and a faster path from raw stock to finished part. Machining a part in one pass reduces handling, tightens tolerance stack-up, and makes repeatable, high-volume production straightforward from first part to last. Designs with challenging geometries and tight tolerances are a natural fit for American Alloy’s 5-axis mills.

Alignment and Finish Guanranteed

When smooth surfaces are critical and features need to align precisely,  5-axis machining provides the accuracy, efficiency, and repeatability needed to keep production moving. Multi-sided machining allows critical features to be machined in a single setup, improving feature alignment while reducing the production time associated with multiple operations and setups.

beyond traditional cnc

Ideal for your Most Demanding Parts

5-axis machining is best suited for parts that traditional 3-axis milling can’t reach in a single setup, including parts with compound angles and undercuts, organic or contoured surfaces, deep cavities and pockets, components requiring precise multi-face alignment, and complex production parts requiring tight tolerances.

One Partner. Every Step.

Unlike standalone machine shops, American Alloy integrates 5-axis machining with laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly under one roof, and backs it with redundant capacity across two facilities.

You ask, we answer

5-axis machining moves the cutting tool and workpiece along five axes simultaneously, allowing complex geometries to be machined in a single setup with greater accuracy than repositioning across multiple operations.

Our 5-axis CNC machining capabilities can hold tolerances down to ±0.0005″ for applications requiring high precision. Actual achievable tolerances depend on the part geometry, material, feature, and other project requirements, but our 5-axis machining center is built to deliver tight, repeatable results for complex components.

We provide 5-axis CNC machining for a wide range of materials, including titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, brass, and plastics. This versatility allows us to machine complex components across a variety of industries and applications, including projects that require challenging materials or demanding specifications.

When a production issue occurs, we take a proactive approach to identify the root cause, correct the issue, and keep the project moving forward. Our team evaluates what went wrong, implements the appropriate corrective action, and works to prevent the issue from recurring. Our focus is on quality, communication, and delivering the finished component to specification.

We take a proactive approach to managing manufacturing delays and minimizing their impact on your project. For material delays, we work with our supplier network to identify faster sourcing options when possible. If an equipment issue occurs, we have multiple service resources available to help get the machine back in operation as quickly as possible. When a drawing or print contains unclear or conflicting information, we contact the customer for clarification before proceeding, helping prevent avoidable delays and ensuring the finished part meets the intended requirements.

Yes. We offer prototype machining and production CNC machining, giving customers the flexibility to move from initial prototypes into production runs with the same manufacturing partner. Our experience with both prototyping and production allows us to understand the different requirements of each stage, from developing the initial part and refining the process to establishing an efficient, repeatable production workflow.
